for context.. this was inspired by the session's prompt, which was building a village. when i think about villages, the first two words that come to mind for me are collaboration and community!! eventually decided on making this (after restarting halfway thru lel oh lel) to show the wonderful interconnectedness of everything + how life can beautifully coexist in its many forms!! also remembered one of my favourite songs from my childhood ([shoutout to you barney!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkAOeIMypg8)) and thought it would be fun to turn an oral sort of form of storytelling into a fun silly little visual/interactive experience. also listening to goofy songs like this makeevokes nice memories and good vibes :P

i’ve recently gone down a bit of a rabbit hole (again) exploring digital homesteads and the handmade web. the internet has undoubtedly evolved tremendously over the years - for which i am incredibly grateful!! however, as the years have gone by, i’ve also seen a slow but sure shift in the way websites are created. i didn’t exactly grow up in the neocities/tumblr/myspace era, but visiting the sites from these times sparks a sort of joy in me that the oftentimes complicated yet rather cookie-cutter (for lack of a better term) websites i visit now have yet to reproduce.

[j. r. carpenter's piece on the handmade web](http://luckysoap.com/statements/handmadeweb.html) made me realize just how much i love the idea of hand-coded websites that serve as these ever-evolving outlets for individuals to express themselves!!!!! as far as we've come technologically, i think that one of the very reasons why the internet was created - to help connect people, has been a bit neglected as of late. seeing this small but incredibly passionate community of creatives and builders looking to preserve and maintain the best parts of web 1.0 has really inspired me to build a silly little home of my own on the wonderous World Wide Web™!!

i built this site as an homage of sorts to the people and things that make the internet a nice place to visit. hope to continue adding things to it until i die!!!!

i'm incredibly awful at maintaining my digital garden but i'm WORKING ON IT and will get more time to add new learnings over the summer which i am SO EXCITED ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

slick websites are super cool, but sometimes the internet needs to be a little more fun!! in my spare time, i like experimenting with simple web dev (mainly html and css) DEFINITELY NOT just because i don't understand javascript, but also because HANDMADE WEB!!!!!!!!

(you can still enable it manually but i digress!!) please note that this page was made at least 1.5 years ago and the audio is even more awful and dumb than i had recalled. have fun with this tremendously transformative and meditative experience!! and sorry if you're vegan - i would be too, if it weren't for eggs. maybe one day i will master the art of the flax egg, but that's a discussion for another time!!
